Fallingwater Gingerbread House

Model Statistics:
•It took over 12 hours to design
•It took Brenton and I around 40 hours to build and decorate
•There are around 164 different pieces of gingerbread
•It took roughly 12 square feet of gingerbread dough (that’s four large batches) to make all the walls, floors and roof
•Over 8 bags of powdered sugar were used to make all the frosting
•It took over 40 sleeves of large Smarties which are used to simulate dry stack stone on the building exterior
•The river and water fall are made up of three batches of hard candy

Best gingerbread house cookie:
2 C light corn syrup
1 1/2 C packed brown sugar
1 1/4 C margarine
1 tsp salt
9 C flower

Melt together the corn syrup, brown sugar, and margarine. Mix till smooth then add in flour and salt.
Bake for 15 to 20 min at 350
*If the pieces get warped throw them in the microwave for 15 seconds and they will flatten out.

I am super-duper, over the top impressed. This takes some serious skills and MAJOR patience. I don't know who this Brenton guys is, but I say he's a keeper.

I like your fake glasses. Also, I see you have a key fob in your pocket. Did you finally get one for your car?

Oh, and I've already told you how much I love this gingerbread house. But I'll say it again.
I love it.

Melodie, WELL DONE and entirely deserved FIRST PLACE. Great grandfather, (I'm FLW's great grandaughter and an interior designer) would be proud and looking for royalties! LOL. Your rendition was festive and infinitely more attractive than the "thrown up candied Santa intestines" of your competitor. There is just no accounting for taste. Cheers! Melissa

How wonderful. My 14 year old and I made a gingerbread house for the first time this year--from scratch--what a lot of work...but we were happy with our "icing covers a multitude of sins gingerbread cottage" When I showed my budding architect your house--he smiled and said, maybe next year (we are from Chicago) : - D.

That is one Frank Lloyd Wright-eous piece of gingerbread!

This is so amazing! This is my favorite house and to see it as a gingerbread house with all the Christmas colors is truly amazing.

Kudos on a job well done!

I understand that you put in a lot of work, but any chance you'd share your design?

I'm not looking to enter any contests, and I probably don't have the skills to pull it off, but I know of a co-worker that might.

We have a new HR director, and already she mostly is talking about the gingerbread contest she wants to start in December. And I want to bring something good that will blow people's minds.

Pretty amazing. It's hard to imagine anybody recreating this, but I hope you sell some plans considering all the effort you went to.
